Enhanced Venue Pages

Behold! Now venue pages allow you to easily get directions and find the nearest watering hole before games. Venue pages also offer the ability see where the closest restaurants, coffee shops, gas stations and even parking lots are located. With Flickr’s help you can see what the venue looks like before getting there.

We’re still thinking of additional features and information to add, so please leave a comment if you have any suggestions.

New Provider: Free Ticket Exchange!

Things have been pretty quiet around the blog recently, but don’t think that means we haven’t been working! Most recent work has been on internal stuff; cleaning up code, improving existing features, planning new stuff, etc. But, I’ve taken a break from some boring technical pursuits to add a new ticket provider to the site: Free Ticket Exchange. FTE is much smaller than Tickets Now or Stubhub, but they have one thing the big boys don’t – well, rather, don’t have something they do – fees! That’s right: all those annoying fees you’re used to seeing tacked onto the final ticket price don’t apply to FTE tickets! If a ticket costs $10.95, you pay $10.95, not $30. Imagine that!

As I said, they’re still a startup (much like us!), so they have a smaller inventory, but you’ll want to pay attention to these tickets when you see them because it’s guaranteed the final price will be cheaper than same-priced tickets from another site.

Until next time, don’t sit so close to the TV; you’ll burn your eyes out!

NFL Seat Views

NFL Seat Views are now up! Less than two weeks ago, we introduced Seat Views for nearly every NHL, NBA and MLB team. Now almost all NFL teams have Seat Views, making it much easier to understand where you’ll be seated. The NFL schedule comes out on April 14, 2009 so stay tuned for deals.

Behold a picture of my Might Lions‘ stadium activated by hovering over one of the camera icons.

Fwix and TicketStumbler Sitting in a Tree

TicketStumbler is now included in the event listings found at Fwix.com.  What is Fwix? Fwix is a very cool startup focused on providing people with photos, videos, events, articles, reviews and music based on your geo-location. To do this, Fwix pulls from thousands of sources like Yelp, Twitter, local newspapers, Zvents and now, TicketStumbler.  Fwix is great for figuring out what’s going on around you especially if you’re as clueless about local happenings as I am.

Fwix’s CEO and founder, Darian Shirazi has been very responsive and helpful.  And we like him even more because he was one of the first people to put the TicketStumbler API to good use (hint, hint to the rest of you). Finally, here’s a sample of Fwix’s event listings sprinkled with TS goodness.

Getting a Better View

A new feature we started rolling out over the weekend is Seat View. Basically, it lets you get an idea of the view you’ll have from a given seat. This feature will only be available for sporting events and will be rolled out gradually across all sports. Currently, almost all NHL games have this feature.

On supported events, you will see a little camera icon () next to seat sections. All you have to do to hover your mouse over the camera and an image will be shown to you. Not all sections will have images due to a lack of strict naming conventions on the part of ticket resellers, but most will and we’re always working to improve accuracy so please report issues!
