Thursday Dump
Pretty good evening of sports yesterday; USA-Mexico soccer, UNC-Duke, good hockey and college hoops across the board. Props to the Dayton Flyers for their upset of #14 Xavier. We’ll get to see those 2 squads match up again @ Xavier and most likely in the final of the A10 tourney. Dayton did much to enhance their NCAA tourney posture, and would be a tough out as a middle seed in the tournament. They have a bunch of long, athletic guys who play with great energy, and an absolute stud in Chris Wright. They do suffer lapses in scoring and don’t have a truly great PG, which could cost them in March. Nevertheless, a nice W last night and good things on the horizon.
Always a must read, Simmons delivers his annual NBA trade value column. (Page 2)
Team USA laid the smackdown on Mexico last night, and is looking like a sure bet to go through in CONCACAF qualifying. There was a bit of a dust-up after the game; apparently Mexico’s coaching staff is comprised of some sore losers. (CNNSI and Off the Post)
Here’s your bizarre link of the day; a high school hoops game ends with an unreal turn of events-the only suitable reaction is WTF?! (Deadspin)
Pretty sweet video combining MMA and video game classic “Punch Out!” (offworld.com)
