NFL Commissioner aims to keep Super Bowl tickets out of the hands of scalpers
By Tim Fraser
One thing is for sure about National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell, he is not a fan of the secondary ticket market, and is now looking for ways to try and prevent the resale of tickets to the NFL’s biggest game, the Super Bowl. The Los Angeles Times reported this week that Goodell wants to make sure the league can get the lowest priced Super Bowl tickets into the hands of fans who want to attend the game, not the ones who are looking to make a profit. While not claiming any changes to the NFL’s ticket policies were eminent, he did speculate possible ways to prevent scalping. Read More

By Allison Reitz
By the close of the fifth annual Billboard Touring Conference, held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City on November 19 and 20, one thing was sure: almost all the panelists had different ideas about what the current state of the economy could and should mean for the future of live entertainment and ticket sales. Ray Waddell, Billboard’s executive director of content and programming for touring and live entertainment, urged caution in a pre-conference opinions article. The Nashville-based exec wrote, “Now’s the time to make tickets more affordable. That means bookers may have to lower their expectations about what their acts can earn. That’s just smart business.” Read More
